UK Treasury Head Promises Minimum Wage Increase of 28%
Head of the Ministry of Finance of Great Britain, Sajid Javid, promised to increase the minimum wage in the country by 28% over the next 5 years.
By 2024, the National Living Wage will rise to £ 10.5 per hour (about $ 12.9) compared to £ 8.21 in 2019, Javid said at the Conservative Party’s annual conference in Manchester.
In addition, he proposed extending the minimum wage clause to all UK workers over 21 years of age.
Now this applies only to workers over the age of 25; the rate is lower for other ages.
« Over the next five years, we will make the UK one of the first major economies in the world to end low pay, » Bloomberg quoted Javid as saying.
