Swedish Volvo Hits Sales Record In 2019

Swedish automaker Volvo Cars recorded record global sales of cars for the sixth consecutive year in 2019.

According to a press release from the company, Volvo sold more than 700 thousand cars for the first time in its 93-year history. In total, the company sold 705,452 cars in 2019, which is 9.8% more than a year earlier.

It is noted that the growth rate in all regional markets where the Volvo brand is represented was significantly higher than the average for these markets. In particular, Volvo has increased its market share in China, the USA and Europe.

In the USA, for the first time since 2007, the company crossed the line of 100 thousand cars sold: sales grew by 10.1% and amounted to 108,234 units. The UK has set a record since 1990.

In Germany, where sales growth was most noticeable and allowed to exceed the figure of 50 thousand cars sold, a record was set for the entire history of the brand’s presence in this market.

Sales growth in China was 18.7% year on year. The company sold 154,961 cars, which was an absolute record for annual sales in a single market.
