Sweden Shuts Down Largest Nuclear Power Plant Reactor
According to Swedish media, the largest reactor at a Swedish nuclear power facility was shut down on Wednesday due to a turbine breakdown.
NPP spokeswoman Desiree Liljeval said that « Reactor No. 3 at Oskarshamn (nuclear power plant) has been disconnected from the electrical grid owing to a turbine shutdown. Troubleshooting continues. »
Sweden has three nuclear power stations with six operational reactors, according to the Associated Press. With a 1,400 megawatt capacity, Oskarshamn’s third reactor is the biggest.
