Spain Increases Gas Export Capacity To Europe
Spain is extending the capacity of the pipeline that connects the Spanish city of Irun in the Basque Autonomous Community with the French Lussagnet by 66%, which would increase the capacity of gas exports to Europe.
Using two already-existing interconnections, French gas system operator Terega and Spanish gas system operator Enagas increased the overall gas flow from Spain to France by 18%. This results in a maximum annual throughput capacity of 8.5 billion cubic meters.
The renewed flow capacity from south to north will allow for the transportation of additional gas from the Iberian Peninsula to other European nations in accordance with market demands.
