Reuters: EC Reconsiders Plans To Ban Internal Combustion Engines
According to Reuters, the European Commission, which planned to ban the sale of cars with internal combustion engines starting in 2035, is willing to amend the law in response to pressure from Germany. Sale will be permitted if the car uses an environmentally friendly fuel.
The German Ministry of Transport stated on Monday that discussions with the EC regarding the project are progressing, but it was noted that it was unable to predict when a deal would be made.
German Transport Minister Volker Wissing declared in February that his nation would not back the EU’s plan to outlaw the sale of new vehicles with internal combustion engines beginning in 2035. He claimed he needed guarantees that cars with internal combustion engines and synthetic fuels would receive an exemption.
