Olympic Flame Of Paris 2024 Will Be Lit On Eiffel Tower

The torch will be lit atop the Eiffel Tower rather than the main stadium of the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 as part of the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony for the Olympic Games in Paris will take place on July 26, 2024. It will be presented as a stage production on the Seine. Delegations from the participating nations will travel the six kilometers between the Austerlitz Viaduct and the Pont d’Iéna, stopping at the Trocadero Palace next to the Eiffel Tower.

The culmination will be the lighting ceremony atop the Eiffel Tower, which is the most recognizable building in the city, according to sources cited by Reuters. The organizing committee for the Games, however, declined to confirm or deny this information.

An official representative of the organizing committee informed the agency that the location for lighting the flame on the first day of the Olympic Games was still to be decided.

The Eiffel Tower’s antennas and lightning rods prevent the Olympic flame from being positioned there for technical reasons. It will probably be positioned somewhere close to the tower’s summit, they noted

The Olympic flame, which is often kindled on Mount Olympus in Greece, will arrive in France on May 8 of next year.
