Hungary Agrees On Cooperation With France’s Framatome
According to the ministry, the agreement between Hungary’s Energy Ministry and France’s Framatome includes, among other things, collaboration in the delivery of fuel for nuclear power plants.
In Hungary, « Framatome’s expertise can be used to extend the life cycle of existing power units or to introduce next-generation technologies, » the press release reads.
The partners, who had previously worked together on research and education, can now also collaborate on the long-term maintenance of nuclear power facilities as well as the delivery of fuel.
International experience is required for the expected increase in the lifespan of the current Paks NPP units and secure fuel supply, Hungarian Energy Minister Csaba Lantos noted. He claims that Framatome’s capabilities can also assist the organization in evaluating the potential of small modular reactors.
