Greek Energy Minister Discusses Oil Prices With OPEC Secretary General
On Tuesday, Greek Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas met with Mohammed Barkindo, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), to discuss international oil prices in the short and long term, as well as Greece’s relations with oil-producing countries, according to the Ministry’s press service.
« Greece is establishing itself as a cornerstone of energy security and an energy transit hub for the whole Southeast European region. We are increasing our collaboration at a vital time by considerably lowering the reliance of nations in the wide region on Russian gas. We’re bolstering national energy security and safeguarding the country against energy import problems, » Skrekas remarked.
Barkindo also met with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens, who emphasized the need of providing inexpensive energy to the European Union and its member states.
