The price of a Greek « golden visa » for outside investors will rise from €250k to €500k, said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek prime minister.

According to Mr. Mitsotakis, « We are now raising the minimum amount of investment for issuing the Golden Visa residency permit from €250 thousand to €500 thousand in order to promote accessibility of real estate for Greeks. »

1035 houses were sold under the golden visa program for €250,000 in 2021, 938 in 2020, and 3535 – in 2019. €3B were invested in Greece in 2021 as a result of the initiative.

The UK will be the country attracting the most investments through the golden visa in 2021. The economy of the nation received €8 billion through this scheme. There, a minimum investment of €2.4 million is required to qualify for such a visa.
