Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands Join Forces to Create COVID-19 Vaccine
Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands have formed an alliance to accelerate the production of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine in Europe. The four largest economies in Europe « are jointly considering various promising initiatives and negotiating with various pharmaceutical companies, the Dutch Ministry of Health said.
« The goal of the Inclusive Vaccine Alliance is to make vaccine available in Europe wherever possible. Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands are convinced that a successful outcome requires a joint strategy and investment, » the statement reads.
The document also says that « the alliance is considering promising vaccine development initiatives to provide the right amount of vaccine for the European Union and other countries, especially for poor countries in Africa. » According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 130 COVID-19vaccines are currently being developed worldwide. At least 10 of them are already at the stage of clinical trials.
