German Airports Will Hire Foreigners Due To Staff Shortages

The German government will make it easier for foreigners employed for temporary work in German airports to obtain all essential permissions. German Labor Minister Hubertus Heil made this announcement to the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

The Ministry of the Interior acknowledged this information and noted that the majority of the positions were unskilled, like loader, because duties like passenger registration necessitate a more comprehensive hiring process. The article claimed that Turkey would be the country from where the laborers will be mostly hired.

After two years of the pandemic, airports in Germany and other nations are experiencing a severe ground personnel shortage as a result of an increase in passenger traffic. It was announced last week that due to this, Lufthansa would cancel 2.2 thousand flights this summer. Local airports are lacking between 2,000 and 3,000 staff, according to Bild, which cited sources in German government circles.
