France Withdraws Troops From Mali
The Barkhane operation’s participating forces have been withdrawn from Mali, according to the French presidential administration. The fight against terrorism in Mali would continue, according to the Elysee Palace. The government of the republic insisted that France call its troops away in January. Due to threats from radical Islamists, French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out keeping and bolstering the soldiers.
« The final stage of the redeployment process began this morning, August 15, 2022, when the last French Operation Barkhane soldier left Mali. Together with all allies committed to stability and the fight against terrorism, France remains committed to the Sahel, the Gulf of Guinea, and the Lake Chad region, » Elysee Palace reported.
The presidential government insists that this does not signal the end of the war against terrorism in Mali. Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the states of the region will get support from France in their political, civic, and military endeavors.
