These payments were « a huge success, » said the politician. He continued by saying that the compensation was agreed at a European Council meeting.

The European Union is anticipated to send the first installment of €300 million before Easter (April 9). A second payment will amount to between €500 and €600 million.

We’ve been pushing for this from the beginning, and I’m glad we were able to do it, said Morawiecki. « This is a huge success for Poland. It’s very essential. »

He continued by saying he would keep pressing for the maximum amount of Ukrainian weapons funding from the European Peace Facility. The EU leaders also decided to contribute up to €3.5 billion to the Fund’s accounts in the upcoming months.
