EU May Consider Suspending Trade Agreement With UK
The European Union executive body could propose a suspension of the trade agreement with the UK if London makes changes to the Brexit deal, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.
At issue are plans by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to pass legislation to unilaterally change parts of the protocol on Northern Ireland, the report specifies.
It is noted that a final decision on the details and timing of such a measure would require support of member states.
The UK and the EU ended the Brexit transition period on 1 January. On that day, the agreement on trade and cooperation between the parties came into force.
