EU Energy Ministers To Discuss Energy Situation In May
According to a statement released by the French member of the EU Council, EU energy ministers will meet on May 2 to review the region’s energy situation.

Earlier this month, European Commission executive vice-president Valdis Dombrovskis told the New York Times that the EU was working on a sixth set of anti-Russia sanctions, one of which would include « some sort » of oil embargo.
The EU is nearly totally reliant on foreign gas imports. According to the European Commission, Russia was the largest supplier in 2021, delivering about 45 percent of the EU’s imports fuel. According to EC President Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission wants to publish a strategy by mid-May to terminate the EU’s reliance on Russian gas, oil, and coal by 2027.
