EU Commissioner Promises to Help Serbia with the EU Entry
EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi said that he will work with the new parliament of Serbia after the elections in the country, including on the issue of joining the European Union
“An important day for Serbia with parliamentary and local elections. I look forward to working with the new government on EU-related reforms. We commit ourselves to helping Serbia move forward quickly to EU accession and support the economic recovery after the COVID-19 crisis,” he wrote on Twitter.
According to preliminary results of the parliamentary elections in Serbia, after processing 92.8% of the ballots, the Serbian Progressive Party gained 62.9% of the vote, the Socialist Party of Serbia (PCA) of the Foreign Minister – 10.9%, the block of Head of the municipality of Novi Beograd Aleksandar Šapić – 4.2%.
