EC Proposes To Create International Platform For Reconstruction Of Ukraine
According to Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission (EC), the organization would consider setting up an international platform that will include members of the G20, OECD, and the European Union. The development of strategic initiatives aimed at reforming and financially supporting Ukraine should be the major goals of the new platform, in addition to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
« We have proposed to the Commission that a platform be created for the European Union or international financial institutions to lead global initiatives for the Ukraine’s rehabilitation. All of the OECD and G20 members as well as, of course, other allies of Ukraine like the US, UK, or Canada supported it. Because we want to ensure that there is a clear strategy for the reconstruction of Ukraine and that investments are linked to reforms, I pay close attention to the management, » von der Leyen told.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, proposed in May that Western nations take part in rebuilding the areas of the nation devastated by the Russian’s aggression. According to him, such a « patronage project » may emerge as a fresh illustration of international cooperation and an investment in the stability of Europe.
