Biden Wants To Join Europe In Confronting China
US President Joe Biden wants to join the EU in fighting China and confronting its « economic abuses and coercion », CNBC reported.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Biden said the US and its foreign partners should « hold China to account for its economic practices ». « Everyone must play by the same rules, » the White House chief concluded.
He said Washington must push back against « abuses and coercion by the Chinese government that undermine the foundations of the international economic system ».
In previous speeches, Biden said he would move away from the tactics of Donald Trump’s predecessor, who launched a trade war with China, and act primarily within the framework of international agreements and organizations such as the World Trade Organization and the World Bank.
Biden also reassured the EU that the U.S. intends to build a partnership with it again after four years of cooling under the Trump presidency.
